Incoming NCCo Exec. Meyer names Kathy Jennings his Chief Admin. Officer

Delaware Public Media

New Castle County Executive-elect Matt Meyer is turning to the state Attorney General’s office to fill the top post in his administration.

Meyer has tapped State Prosecutor Kathy Jennings to be his Chief Administrative Officer.

“I’m excited to get to work,” said Jennings in a statement. “Matt is a change agent and I look forward to creating positive change for our county.”

Jennings has been State Prosecutor for the past 5 years, overseeing all state criminal prosecutions and handling a staff of over 250.

She worked state officials and lawmakers on various legislative initiatives, including reforming the state’s three strikes sentencing law- and helped the Police Chiefs Council craft a statewide policy for police body camera use.

She also served two years as Chief Deputy Attorney General and established a consumer protection division at the Dept. of Justice during her tenure in that role.

Meyer, in a statement, said Jennings leadership will help in his effort to “make local government more honest, efficient and transparent.”
