Weekly unemployment claims continue to hold steady in the Delaware.

The state Office of Unemployment counted 1,634 claims for the week of November 21 for a total payout of more than $8.1 million.

More than 155,000 claims have been received since the start of the pandemic with a total of more than $916 million of paid benefits.

The continuous claims statewide peaked back in early June with more than 64,000. That total is now down to less than 30,000.

Since March, more than 12,000 claims have been made for Pandemic Unemployment Insurance. Just over 8,000 of those claims have been paid out for a total of $92 million.

The statewide unemployment rate has been on a steady decline since a spike over the summer. The rate in Delaware for the month of October was 5.6 percent.
