2014 Candidate Conversations: U.S. Senator

As part of our election coverage, Delaware Public Media is offering a series of Candidate Conversations. We’ve reached out to all candidates that have filed to run in a statewide race and invited them to sit down with us. Candidates in each race are being asked the same set of questions to allow you to get to know then and compare them.

Last week, we heard from the two candidates facing off in Tuesday’s Republican primary for US Senate, Carl Smink and Kevin Wade.

This week, we turn to the other two running in this race: the incumbent, Democrat Chris Coons, and the Green Party’s Andrew Groff. (More)

This week, Mordock visits The Green to delve into who’s in the running and where might the governor turn with this selection. (More)

Enlighten Me: Local teacher reflects on trip to Rwanda

[jwplayer config="jw-audio-only_post" mediaid="67132"]

The Republic of Rwanda in east-central Africa is etched into the world's consciousness for its devastating genocide nearly 20 years ago. The ethnic tension that resulted in the death of nearly one million Rwandans affects the country to this day. Over the past two decades, Rwanda has sought to heal and restore through initiatives such as trauma counseling, education, agriculture and health care.

Last month, a Wilmington teacher was part of a global solidarity venture to experience what is being done on the local level to carry out these missions.

In this week's Enlighten Me, Delaware Public Media's Cathy Carter talks with St. Elizabeth High School's Melissa Pollio about her experience. (More)
