Arts Playlist: Delaware Division of the Arts recognizes local artists with fellowship awards

Last year, more than 90 First State Artists applied for an Artist Fellowship, grants given annually by the Delaware Division of the Arts.
Recently, the agency announced the recipients of this year’s awards.

Enlighten Me: Rising global temperatures

Last week, NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced that 2014 was the hottest year on record globally. According to their report, the average global temperature in the past year was one and a quarter degrees Fahrenheit above the average global temperature in the 20th century, which was 57 degrees Fahrenheit.
The new data supports the ongoing trend that our planet is warming up. Nine out of the 10 hottest years on record took place after the year 2000. But not everywhere on the planet experienced 2014 as their hottest year. While Alaska experienced their warmest since the 1930s, Canada had the coldest year since 1996. Here in Delaware, 2014 turned out to be one of the coolest years for the state.
