Delaware hospital takes lead in weight-loss surgery for teens

One fairly common option for adults who face medical issues because of their weight is bariatric surgery, procedures that shrink the stomach so you’ll feel full faster. But this type of surgery is not limited to adults. In a small number of cases, adolescents are having the procedure done to deal with obesity and its related medical issues.

Wilmington’s A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children is among the pioneers in bariatric surgery for adolescents The Green and WDDE contributor Eileen Dallabrida checked in there to examine the use of this procedure at such a young age. (More)


Prime Hook restoration to begin late 2014

Behind the Court of Chancery headlines

Delaware’s Court of Chancery is often worth keeping an eye on, but perhaps more so now than other times.

Late last month, the Chancery Court asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear an appeal regarding its confidential arbitration program.

At the same time – the court needs a new Chancellor now that Leo Strine has been confirmed as the next Chief Justice of Delaware's Supreme Court.

Wesley College enjoying unprecedented men's hoop success

College basketball’s March Madness is right around the corner, and here in the First State there are a couple of hoop teams that could make some noise come tournament time.

One is at Wesley College. Most know about the Wolverine football team’s run of success - a top 10 regular in the national rankings and nine straight NCAA playoff appearances. But the men’s hoop team is starting to establish similar credentials. After 3 NCAA tournament bids in the last five years, the Wolverines are reaching new heights this year Wesley entered play this week ranked 6th nationally with a team record 12-game win streak before suffering an upset loas at York (Pa.) Thursday night.

The Green went one-on-one with the man orchestrating that success -Wesley head coach Jerry Kobasa.


Enlighten Me: DSU student recalls working with Phillip Seymour Hoffman

The sudden death of Oscar winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman earlier this week stunned people across country, but for one Delaware State University student the news hit a bit closer to home.
