Traditionally, New Year’s Eve is an adult’s holiday – a big night out for the grown-ups. UD women's hoop team moves on from Delle Donne era

[jwplayer config="jw-audio-only_post" mediaid="54731"]

One of the more memorable stories of the past year was the University of Delaware women’s basketball team’s unprecedented success.

Led by All-American Elena Delle Donne and five other seniors , The Blue Hens went 32-4, reached the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16, and finished the year ranked 13th in the nation. Record crowds that occasionally included Vice President Joe Biden watched them play at the Bob.

But Delle Donne has moved on to the WNBA – where she was Rookie of the Year in helping the Chicago Sky reach the playoffs.

And UD and its head coach Tina Martin have begun the post-Delle Donne era.

The Green checks in with Coach Martin this week to reflect on last season’s magical run --- and the program’s efforts to reboot this season. (More)

Earlier this month –WDDE/Delaware First Media announced a partnership with Brandywine School District to create Delaware Public Media, a collaboration the district’s WMPH radio station at Mount Pleasant high school and WDDE.

The partnership will bring Delaware-based NPR programming to northern Delaware, establish a more robust media curriculum for Mount Pleasant High School students, and introduce Generation Voice, a multimedia online platform and educational curriculum that will give Mount Pleasant students – and eventually Brandywine and Concord High School students – training in multi-media and digital technology.

Delaware First Media President Micheline Boudreau stopped by The Green this week to discuss the partnership.
