The Grand Opera House in Wilmington is preparing to resume indoor shows after being closed by the pandemic for over a year.
But before that, The Grand is offering some summer lawn concerts at Rockwood Park.
Two shows are scheduled for later this month on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th,
“One is standup comic Ryan Hamilton; he’s got a new Netflix special called “Happy Face.” He’s a very funny young man," said The Grand’s executive director Mark Fields. "And then the very next night on June 26th, one of our resident companies here at The Grand - The Rock Orchestra - is going to present a program of music by The Who.”
And while COVID restrictions are easing, Fields says tickets for both shows will be sold in pods, with seating groups of four to six people
“Even though restrictions are starting to be lifted and more and more people are vaccinated, we do want to be mindful of the fact that we’re just coming out of a pandemic and we want people to feel safe and comfortable while they’re enjoying a show," said Fields. And some people may not be at the point where they feel comfortable being shoulder to shoulder with strangers.”
Fields adds masks will be required if you leave your pod and move around.
Pod ticket prices range from $100 to $162.
Field notes that if these two events are successful, The Grand plans to add more events at Rockwood Park.
The Grand plans to announce its initial slate of live indoor shows Tuesday.
