Delaware Public Media

Gov. John Carney has a new chief of staff.

Carney’s Deputy Chief of Staff Sheila Grant takes over, replacing current chief of staff Doug Gramiak.

Gramiak is leaving the governor’s office to join the law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath as a consultant. He’s been chief of staff since 2017. His last day will be Nov. 1.

Grant previously served as Carney’s chief of staff when he was a Congressman. Before that, she was his legislative and communications director. She has also been a legislative aide to Sen. Tom Carper.

Policy Director Albert Shields and Communications Director Jonathan Starkey assume Grant’s previous roles in policy and external affairs.

Gramiak served as then Congressman Carney’s state director from 2010 to 2014. He was also his chief of staff when Carney was Lt. Governor from 2001 to 2008.
