Sussex County voters elected two new Republican faces to serve on County Council.
Retired financial adviser John Rieley garnered 60% of the vote to win the 5th District seat over Democratic challenger Ellen Magee.
The 5th District seat had been held by Rob Arlett, who stepped down to run for U.S. Senate.
And the 4th District Sussex County Council seat will be filled by Republican Doug Hudson. He defeated Democrat Paulette Rappa 54% to 46%. George Cole held the seat for 32 years before stepping aside this year
Yesterday’s results keep Sussex County Council completely Republican and all male.
Meantime, Democrats picked up seats on New Castle County Council and Kent County Levy Court.
In New Castle County, long-time GOP Council member Bob Weiner lost his seat to Democrat Dee Durham by about 2,000 votes. And in Kent County - Democrat Jeffery Hall ousted incumbent Republican James Hosfelt.
