Hurricane Florence hasn’t had an impact on gas prices locally – at least not yet.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware actually dipped slightly over past week, dropping a penny from $2.83 to $2.82.
And Delaware gas prices.com lists over a dozen stations across the state with a price of $2.73 or less.
But a brief spike is still a possibility. Flooding and power outages could disrupt transportation and distribution infrastructure. AAA adds a shutdown of the Colonial or Plantation Pipeline, which supply the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast with fuel, could also send prices higher.
The First State remains the cheapest place for gas regionally.
A gallon of regular is $3.07 in the Philadelphia area, while averaging around $2.83 in South Jersey and $2.84 in Maryland.
The national average sits at $2.85, about a penny more than last week.
But the price locally is still well above where it sat a year ago when it was just $2.58.
