Gas prices in the First State are above $2 per gallon for the first time since the end of March.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware is $2.09 as of Monday. That’s up from $1.99 a week ago and more than 20-cents from one month ago. But is about 40-cents lower than this time last year.
AAA says higher demand will contribute to increasing gas prices in the coming weeks, but motorists shouldn’t expect the typical summer gas price spike since demand will not be enough to drive down gasoline stocks levels.
Regionally - drivers can expect to find prices between $2.05 and $2.12 in South Jersey. They are about $2.31 in the Philadelphia area and $2.16 in Maryland.
Nationally, the gas price average is $2.13, up three cents in the last week and up 19-cents in the last month. But it’s down 53-cents from this time last year.
