Gas prices fall ahead of busy holiday travel week

Delaware Public Media

Drivers hitting the road for the holidays will find lower prices at the pump.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware is $2.15.

That’s down another 2 cents from a week ago and 12 cents from a month ago. It’s also 14 cents cheaper that what drivers were paying this time last year.

Delawaregasprices.com reports just over a dozen stations across the state selling a gallon of regular for $2.04 or less, including three station with a price of $1.99.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says falling oil prices continue to fuel the drop in gas prices, with crude oil down 5 dollars per barrel as trading ended this week.

Gas prices in Delaware remain significantly below the national average, which sits at $2.35.

And the First State is also still easily the cheapest place in the region to fuel up.  The average price for a gallon of regular in the Philadelphia area is at $2.61.   It’s between $2.31 in South Jersey and $2.428 in Maryland.
