First State gas prices continue to drop

Delaware Public Media

Delaware drivers continue to see gas prices retreat as the summer driving season revs up.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware is currently $2.55.  That’s down six cents from a week ago and 17 cents over the past month.

And Delawaregasprices.com reports just over a dozen stations across the state have prices at $2.39 or lower.

AAA says falling crude oil prices are fueling the drop in prices at the pump, adding drivers may have already seen the highest prices of the year.

Delaware's prices are still the lowest in the region.  The average price for a gallon of regular in the Philadelphia area is now down under $3 - sitting at $2.94.  The price in South Jersey is around $2.71, while Maryland has dropped to $2.65.

The price in the First State also remains much cheaper than the national average, which sits at $2.75 to start the week.
