The first Corporal Stephen J. Ballard National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Intern has been announced.

Delaware State University junior Morgan Johnson is the first to earn the  Ballard NOBLE Internship.

Johnson, who is President of DSU's NOBLE Collegiate Chapter, will work in the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, assisting with the Behavioral Health Consortium, Behavioral Health research and helping staff with Board of Pardons work, as well as constituent cases.

The internship is named in honor of Delaware State Police Corporal Ballard who lost his life in the line of duty. The 8-year State Police veteran was shot and killed after approaching a suspicious vehicle at a Wawa in Bear on April 26th this year.

Lieutenant Gov. Bethany Hall-Long’s office partnered with NOBLE, and Cpl. Ballard’s wife, Louise, to create the internship opportunity and remember Cpl. Ballard’s public service.
