A Dover businessman is getting jail time after pleading guilty to defrauding Wilmington Trust as part of a real estate development conspiracy.
Federal Judge Gregory Sleet sentenced Salvatore Leone to 366 days in prison and three years of probation Tuesday.
He will also have to repay the Wilmington Trust Company nearly $785,000.
Leone plead guilty to bank fraud charges in 2013.
Leone admitted he and his late business partner Michael Zimmerman billed Wilmington Trust for joint projects that were used for other developments between 2007 and 2009.
Prosecutors argued part of the money was also turned into a check payable to Zimmerman.
Zimmerman died this past January while awaiting trial.
Leone faced up to 30 years of prison time and a $1 million fine in addition to restitution.
