DNREC introduces wetlands locator tool

A new online tool can help Delaware landowners see if wetlands are on their property.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), wetlands serve as nurseries for many birds and fish. They also absorb excess rainfall, protecting nearby communities from flooding.

Using the Delaware Freshwater Wetland Toolbox, landowners can enter their address into the site. They can then zoom in on a 3D view of their property to see if wetlands are nearby.

Landowners can also use the website to learn about the different types of wetlands and how they benefits the environment.

For more information on how to use the wetland toolbox, contact DNREC’s Wetland Monitoring and Assessment Program (OR visit delaware public dot org.)
