Anyone looking to drive on to Delaware’s beaches this summer to surf fish is out of luck of they don’t already have a permit.
Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) hit its cap of 17,000 surf-fishing permits for the calendar year Wednesday. Sales began back in December.
That means no more surf tag permits will be issued until next December.
Those with permits can also use them as an annual pass to access all of Delaware’s 17 State Parks.
The Delaware Parks and Recreation Advisory Council established a 17,000 cap on annual Surf-Fishing Permits in 2019 to avoid overcrowding on the First States drive-on beaches.
