Delaware reports another COVID-19 death and more cases Sunday

Delaware now has six COVID-19 deaths.

Delaware’s Dept. of  Public Health reports another person has died in New Castle County. It was a 79-year-old woman who was not hospitalized and had underlying health conditions

DPH also reports 18 new cases Sunday – pushing the total number of confirmed cases since March 11th to 232.

The state also reports 33 hospitalizations.

The sixth death comes after state officials announced that 3 people died Saturday – a 76-year-old New Castle County man  and two men in Kent County, ages 74 and 77.

State health officials also said Saturday there were multiple new coronavirus cases at another assisted living facility. Six residents in the memory care unit at HarborChase in North Wilmington tested positive for COVID-19. Five are now hospitalized.  The unit is home to 36 people.

And Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki announced Sunday that a Wilmington police officer tested positive for COVID-19. The officer is the third city employee to test positive.  The individual is home in self-isolation and has not been at work at police headquarters since March 15.

The current breakdown of cases by county Sunday shows 141 confirmed cases in New Castle County, 25 in Kent County, and 66 in Sussex

Saturday night, Delaware reported nine of the people with confirmed cases are considered recovered.
