The Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington is preparing to host the 7th annual Delaware Korean Festival.
After a one year pandemic pause, the event returns at the museum’s Copeland Sculpture Garden and North Terrace Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5 until 8 p.m.
“This Korean Festival is based on the Korean Thanksgiving called the ChuSeok," said Delaware Korean Association president Jin Twilley. "ChuSeok is one of the most important holidays in Korea, along with New Year's Day. It is August the 15th, but it goes by the Lunar calendar. So this year it falls on September 21.”
Twilley says ChuSeok celebrates the arrival of a Korean staple, rice, which is harvested in September.
She explains what attendees can expect at this year's event.
“This event is a family-friendly event that the Delaware Korean Association and the Delaware Art Museum are partnering on to share Korean culture with the community," said Twilley. "Anyone can come and enjoy Korean dance, music, crafts and food.”
Twilley says guests can also pose for selfies with Korean culture items, learn to write their names in Korean and play Korean trivia.
Masks are required to use the indoor restrooms during the Festival.
