Biggs Museumof American Art

The Delaware Division of the Arts honors 17 Artist Fellows this week.

The Artist Fellows will be honored at a the Award Winners XVIII reception and awards ceremony at the Biggs Museum on Wednesday, June 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“Every year the Delaware Division of the Arts works with the Delaware State Arts Council to select Fellowship winners from a big application pool that they run annually. So, they select Fellowship winners at three different levels. And each level comes with its own sort of cash award," Biggs Museum Curator Ryan Grover said. “That can be for artist in individual art, literary art, performing art….so it really does run the gamut from photography and painting all the way to music and writing to playwrights...choreography.

Grover says the reception will start with music selections by Master Fellow in Music, Lloyd Shorter and a presentation by Joan Warburton-Phibbs, Established Fellow in Choreography.

Following the awards presentation Emerging Fellow in Media Arts Robert Waters will present some of his work.

The Award Winners exhibition will be at the Biggs Museum until July 22.  It willalso been seen at two other venues, CAMP Rehoboth in Rehoboth Beach from August 3-26 and Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington from September 7-30.
