Deadline approaches for annual DART Poster Contest

The deadline is fast approaching for the 19th Annual DART Poster Contest.

The contest is open to school-age children in grades 6 through 12.

And Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) marketing communications specialist Lerrissa Boardley says there’s a reason that group is targeted,

“In hopes to encourage students to become interested in riding public transportation, as they think about their transportation options - moving from junior high to high school.”

Boardley adds that the poster contest has a theme, “This year’s theme is “Dart To Your Destination, Using the DART Transit App!”We try to come up with good themes that students would be interested in and with technology steadily growing, we thought that this was a great way to promote our new transit app.”

Posters must be submitted by Tuesday, March 26, 2019 and Boardley notes they will be judged on originality, theme presentation and artistic quality.

Boardley says a first place winner will be chosen at each grade level and a grand prize winner will be selected from that group. The grand prize winning poster will be highlighted on DART buses statewide and featured at various State agencies.

First place winners at each grade level receive a $25 VISA gift card.  The grand prize winner selected from that group gets a $50 gift card.

Last year’s winner was 8th grader Fiona Kennedy from Cab Calloway School of Arts in Wilmington.
