Coronavirus cases in Delaware pass 7,000 with another day of double digit deaths

The First State saw a third straight day of double digit COVID-19 related deaths Thursday, and cases to date shot past 7,000.

State health officials reported 13 new deaths Thursday, pushing Delaware’s death toll to 260.  Delaware has seen 35 virus-related deaths in the past three days.

 

The latest victims were between 21 and 94-years-old. The 21 year old victim is the youngest in Delaware to die from the virus. 

 

Six victims lived in Sussex County, six were from New Castle County and one was from Kent.  Nine had underlying health conditions, and nine were long-term care facility residents. 

Another 271 new positive cases were also reported, lifting the total since March 11th to 7,223. More than half of the new cases are once again in Sussex County.  It added 167 Thursday and has 3,503 total to date.

Current hospitalizations remain fairly flat and under 300.  They fell by nine Thursday to 273.  52 people are critically ill.

The state also reports 138 more people are considered recovered, raising the number statewide to 3,080 so far.
