Delaware Public Media

The University of Delaware is bringing an alum back to serve as this spring’s commencement speaker.

UD announced Tuesday Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy will return to Newark to speak to the Class of 2019.

Nagy was UD’s quarterback from 1997 to 2000. He threw for 8,214 yards and 48 touchdowns as a Blue Hen before going on to play in the Arena Football League for six seasons.

Nagy got his start coaching in the NFL working with Andy Reid in Philadelphia and later in Kansas City where Nagy eventually was promoted to offensive coordinator.

Nagy took over as head coach of the Bears last season winning 12 games and NFL coach of the year.

UD’s 2019 commencement ceremony is June 1st.
