Off-Broadway solo show "Tea for Three" coming to the Milton Theatre

Award-winning actress Elaine Bromka brings her off-Broadway solo show Tea for Three to Delaware this month.

The show is an intimate portrait of three First Ladies, Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford says Bromka.

"It’s really a very lighthearted, but moving exploration of what happens when your husband says, “oh, I got the presidency,” and you go, “what?”...laughs...and suddenly there you are in the fishbowl,” said Bromka.

Bromka portrays all three women. She also co-wrote the play with her friend and playwright Eric Weinberger.

She's already taken the show to 28 states and says it has been well-received.

“I find that people really care. It’s an uplifting show," said Bromka. "One time this guy came (to the show) and said, “My wife dragged me here.” And he said, “I love this - I met three first ladies and I met their husbands.”

Bromka has over 30 years in film, television, Broadway and off-Broadway.

She starred as eight First Ladies opposite Rich Little in the PBS show The Presidents many years ago, an experience that prompted her to team-up with Weinberger to create Tea for Three.

Tea for Three is at the Milton Theatre Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 3 and 7 p.m.  Tickets are available here.

Kelli Steele has over 30 years of experience covering news in Delaware, Baltimore, Winchester, Virginia, Phoenix, Arizona and San Diego, California.
