Delaware Coastal Airport (DCA) in Georgetown is getting a new manager.
Bridgeville resident Eric Littleton has been chosen by Sussex County officials to succeed Jim Hickin as the manager of the Delaware Coastal Airport.
Littleton’s experience includes a short stint in the United States Air Force (USAF) as an air traffic controller - before returning to DE back in the 1990’s, “Then did some odd jobs - had my own business for a couple of years there. And then found myself interviewing for a position down at NASA Wallops Flight Facility as an air traffic controller.”
Littleton later moved into airport management at NASA.
He was chosen for the Delaware Coastal Airport position from a pool of five candidates. Littleton says he’s supportive of the Airport’s rebranding several years ago, “I think that it marks us as the portal to one of our largest economic factors here in the County, which is tourism and eco-tourism - and we’re a portal to that. And we can market the whole Delaware coast - worldwide - and people can fly in and enjoy our great beaches and what we have to offer here in the County.”
Littleton says the airport has a large annual economic impact in Sussex County and the entire State, “Just north of $147 million is generated by the airport. And just what we have here now - with Aero AlOFT (ALOFT AeroArchitects) and our fixed-base operator and State Police are here and some other tenants on the airport and Business Park (grounds). The Business Park is growing.”
Littleton says he’s working with Sussex County Economic Development to promote further business at the Airport and the surrounding Business Park.
Littleton will officially take over for Hickin, who is retiring after 12 years as airport manager - in October.
