Blue Rocks play for Carolina League title this week

The Blue Rocks make their first appearance in the Mills Cup Carolina League Championship series since 2015 Tuesday night.

The Rocks’ and Fayetteville Woodpeckers play Game 1 of the best of five series at Frawley Stadium.  First pitch is at 6:35 pm.

Wilmington is looking for its fifth Carolina League title, but first since 1999. The Rocks reached the championship series by rallying from a 2-0 series deficit to defeat the Salem Red Sox 3 games to 2 in the Northern Division final.

Fayetteville, the Southern Division champ, is the defending Carolina League champion, though they won it as the Buies Creek Astros.

The first two games of the Mills Cup final are at Frawley Stadium tonight and Wednesday night. Game 3 and, if necessary, Games 4 and 5 are in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
