Blue Hens return to NCAA football playoffs

The University of Delaware football team is finally returning to post-season play.

The Blue Hens earned their first bid to the NCAA FCS playoffs since 2010 Sunday, despite losing their final two regular season games.

Saturday’s loss to Villanova in Newark dropped UD to 7-4, but a pair of wins over Top 10 teams earlier this season were enough to get the Hens in.  They beat Elon when it was ranked 5th and Towson when it was #10.

Delaware is one of six teams from the Colonial Athletic Association to make the 24-team playoff field and will face one of those other CAA squads,  James Madison, in round one of the playoffs this weekend.

Delaware, ranked #21, visits 6th ranked J-M-U Saturday at 3 p.m.  James Madison is 8-3.
