Blood Bank of Delmarva seeks donations to aid Texas in Hurricane Harvey's wake

The Blood Bank of Delmarva is asking local residents to help meet an urgent request for over 2,000-units of blood from blood banks in Texas.

The request comes in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which hit the Texas and other portions  of Gulf Coast over the weekend, crippling the area - including Houston.  The storm continues to pound away at Gulf Coast with rain and cause catastrophic flooding.

The Blood Bank of Delmarva says the hurricane has impacted blood collection there, but patients still need blood and blood products to survive.

The Blood Bank is appealing to donors with O positive, O negative, A negative and B negative blood types to make a donation this week; platelet donors are also needed.

You’re asked to call 1.888.8.BLOOD.8 or go to donate.bbd.org to book an appointment.
