Joe Biden added his home state to his list of presidential primary wins Tuesday.

Biden won the twice-delayed Delaware Democratic primary handily, securing over 89 percent of the votes cast.

Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were also on the ballot against the presumptive Democratic nominee, who already has the necessary delegates to secure the party’s nomination.

President Trump won the Delaware Republican primary, receiving about 88 percent of the vote against "Rocky" De La Fuente.

Gov. Carney’s coronavirus executive order effectively allowed every registered Democrat or Republican voter to return their ballot by mail, fax or email for this presidential primary.

That led to a record number of absentee votes.  As of 12:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, nearly 56,500 absentee ballots had been counted.  In the 2016 presidential primary, a little more than 5,000 absentee votes were cast.

And the number of absentee votes was not far behind the number of with machine votes Tuesday.  The total number of machine votes cast in the primary was a little more than 67,800, as of 12:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to the state Elections Department, turnout for the primary was a nearly 23 percent.
