Average gas price in Delaware hits $2 a gallon

Delaware Public Media

Motorists continue to rejoice at the pump this week, as Delaware gas prices sink to a new low for 2015.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular dropped in the last week to $2.00. A year ago, motorists were paying $2.67 a gallon in the First State.

Delaware Gas Prices dot COM reports there are more than dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $1.93 or less, mostly in New Castle County. The cheapest is $1.89 in Newark if you’re paying with cash.

Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of regular dropped slightly from $2.04 to $2.02 in the last week. Last year, the average was $2.58.

The oversupply in crude oil and the typical low demand that happens in the winter have kept gas prices low, according to Triple-A officials. Almost half the country have averages below $2 for a gallon of regular. South Carolina currently has the lowest average at $1.79.
