Are you registered to vote? The deadline is Saturday

In a typical year, most people would be waiting to cast their ballot on election day. But with vote-by-mail permitted during this election, hundreds of thousands of Delawareans are expected to use that method, and some have already mailed back their ballots.

Registration in Delaware has shot up with 20,000 new voters added since January of this year. The Democratic party accounts for the bigger share of the increase, 12,000 more Democrats registered to Republicans' 7,000.

At least 65,000 more voters registered since the previous presidential election in 2016.

Just over 735,000 Delawareans have their chance to cast a ballot, with Democrats making up nearly 351,000 of the state’s registered voters compared to 204,000 Republicans.

The deadline to register for November’s election is Saturday. The easiest way to register is at ivote.de.gov. Voters can also check their registration status or request a mail-in-ballot.

While voters can request an absentee ballot up to a day before the election, the time it takes to mail it means it won’t arrive before polls close on November 3rd. If voters receive their ballot too late to mail, they should utilize one of five drop boxes located at election offices throughout the state.
