Annual Delaware Arborist & Tree Care Seminar set for next week

Delaware Forest Service

The 8th Annual Delaware Arborist and Tree Care Seminar is next week at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.

The event was started to give arborist and tree care professionals a place to go and learn to get continuing education credits for the International Society of Arboriculture.

And Delaware Forest Service assistant state forester Kyle Hoyd says it continues to grow.

“We have some fantastic speakers this year coming from all around the country to come to our little state to really put on event that rivals some of the largest on the East Coast. It’s a wonderful event, low cost to arborist and tree care professionals, and it’s just somewhere they can learn and really network with our tree care professionals that are out there," Hoyd said.

Hoyd says the seminar is mainly designed for two groups.

“We designed it for business owners that are involved in the tree care professional industry and we designed it for the workers that are out there. We really felt that there was a big drop in education for the tree workers that are actually doing the work and the owners of these businesses,” said Hoyd.

Hoyd says this year’s seminar focuses on the latest issues and strategies in tree pest and disease management, soil health, chainsaw safety, proper pesticide use and sustainable planting techniques.

It’s a two day event, Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11,  in the Exhibit Hall at the State Fairgrounds. It costs $95 and includes breakfast, lunch and snacks each day.
