Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn confirmed Thursday the state is part of a joint investigation into deceptive practices by prescription opioid manufacturers.
A national coalition of Attorneys Generals from a majority of states is investigating the role opioid manufacturers have played in creating and prolonging the opioid epidemic.
The coalition isn’t saying which companies it’s looking at, but it says the investigation has been going on for some time.
"These efforts to hold manufacturers of opioids financially responsible where the law allows are an important part of our overall effort to improve prevention and treatment of substance abuse,” Attorney General Denn said.
Denn’s office is also asking private law firms to submit bids to be appointed as special counsel to help investigate these drug makers.
