The 21st Annual Breast Cancer Update is being held this week - hosted by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

On Tuesday at Dover Downs, the coalition will host leading medical experts and speakers from 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Beth Krallis, the communications director for the coalition, says it’s a chance for the community to come together.

“This conference brings together survivors, community members, members of the medical community, for free information, ways to reduce your risk of recurrence. You’ll walk away with so much new information,” said Krallis

She says the event keeps women informed on the risks of breast cancer.

“We find that this event is looked forward to each year. It’s become one of the best sources of up-to-date information on this disease, which in a women’s lifetime….the chance of a woman getting breast cancer is 1 in 8,” Krallis said.

Krallis says140 women in Delaware are expected to die from breast cancer this year in Delaware.
