The State Treasurer’s Office is working to get American Rescue Plan Act funds to local governments as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Fifty-five non-county, non-metropolitan governments in Delaware are set to receive $87.9 million from the $1.9 trillion federal COVID relief funds approved in March by President Biden.
State Treasurer Colleen Davis is overseeing distribution of those funds. She says cities and towns submitted their budget information through a secure online form to calculate how much they’ll receive.
And Davis says the Treasurer’s office then created an online dashboard so Delawareans follow that progress of distribution.
“The dashboard has a breakdown of all those local governments - the 55. It demonstrates where they are in the process. So, that first tranche is just under $44 million. It’s actually being disbursed as we speak.”
As of Monday, just under $43 million of that first set of funds has been processed - with 32 of the state’s 55 cities and towns having their initial payments processed.
The dashboard is available at the State Treasurer's website.
Davis plans to leave it up at least through next year when the second round of funding is allocated.
“The real purpose is to try to give folks a sense of where that money is and how quickly it’s going to their towns," said Davis. "And I think it’s a nice interactive tool and my team did a really fantastic job of getting it up and running.”
