State senators confirmed some new judges to Delaware courts earlier this week.

Vice Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick was confirmed as the new Chancellor of the Court of Chancery Wednesday.

McCormick is the first woman to serve as Chancellor in Delaware, and replaces Andre Bouchard, who announced his retirement last year.

Judge Carl Danberg was also confirmed as Chief Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, replacing retiring judge Alex Smalls.

Danberg previously served as Delaware’s attorney general from 2005 to 2007, and as Department of Correction commissioner shortly after his stint as attorney general.

Judge Jeffery Clark was also confirmed as resident judge of the Superior Court in Kent County, and Magistrate Emily Ferrell approved as Commissioner on the Court of Common Pleas.

Roman Battaglia grew up in Portland, Ore, and now reports for Delaware Public Media as a Report For America corps member. He focuses on politics, elections and legislation activity at the local, county and state levels.
