Delaware’s Congressional delegation easily fended off Republican challengers in Tuesday’s election.

The widest margin of victory of all statewide races was for Sen. Chris Coons who bested political newcomer Lauren Witzke by more than 21 points.

“I’m working to solve problems, to respond to constituents to work across the aisle when called for to make progress and I think ultimately that’s what Delawareans are looking for,” said Coons of his victory.

Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester will also serve another term after beating Lee Murphy by more than 17 points.

“I really am so thankful to the residents of the state of Delaware for their vote of confidence and sending me back to Washington to serve them and I’m ready to get to work,” said Blunt Rochester.

The election saw more than 68 percent voter turnout in the First State. Coons says he finds the voter enthusiasm reassuring.

“It is encouraging to me. I’ve always said that the most disheartening or frustrating thing is when people say that they don’t even bother to vote. To have record turnout suggests there are deep passions about our country and about the direction we ought to go, and I prefer that to disinterest and disengagement.”

Democratic incumbents dominated all Delaware’s statewide races. Gov. John Carney also won a second term easily while Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall Long defeated her challenger Donyale Hall and Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro beat Julia Pillsbury—each winning by double digits.
