It's primary day in Delaware, here's how to vote

Delaware Public Media

It’s Primary election day in Delaware. Voters in both parties cast their ballots for statewide and local offices.

Polls are open from 7 am until 8pm.

Polling locations can be found online at ivote.de.gov.

Nearly 108,000 people requested a ballot to vote by mail. As of Monday, 63% of voters returned their ballots. Those who haven’t can no longer mail it back, but they can be left in drop boxes until 8pm.

New Castle County drop boxes are at the Carvel State Office Building and the New Castle County Elections Office Warehouse and Training Center.  There are also dropboxes at Kent and Sussex County elections offices in Dover and Georgetown.

Voters who requested a vote by mail ballot, but wish to vote in person can, but may wait longer at their polling place while officials void the mail in ballot.

Races on the ballot include a 6 person GOP primary for Governor. The party endorsed Julianne Murray faces State Senators Colin Bonini and Bryant Richardson, as well as Scott Walker, David Graham and David Bosco. Bonini was the Republican's choice in 2016 and lost to Gov. John Carney in the General election. Walker won the GOP primary for U.S. House in 2018 before losing to Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester in the General election.

There are also Democratic and Republican primaries for U.S. Senate. Incumbent Sen. Chris Coons faces progressive newcomer Jessica Scarane. The winner of that race will face the winner of the Republican primary between Lauren Witzke and James DeMartino.

And the next mayor of Wilmington will be decided in a 3 way Democratic primary between incumbent Mike Purzycki, Velda Jones-Potter and Justen Wright.  No Republican filed in that race.
