Carney names three more cabinet picks

Governor-elect John Carney is starting to round out his cabinet, announcing his selections to lead three more state agencies Friday.

Dr. Kara Odom Walker is his choice for secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services.  Dr. Walker is currently the Deputy Chief Science Officer at the non-profit Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute - authorized by Congress to improve evidence available to help patients, caregivers, and others make informed healthcare decisions.

Carney has tapped Josette Manning to head the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families.  Manning has been a state prosecutor for past 16 years and is currently director of the Delaware Department of Justice’s Special Victims Unit.

And the governor-elect has asked Anas Ben Addi to stay on as Director of the Delaware State Housing Authority.  He’s held that post in Gov. Markell’s administration since 2009.

Carney will be sworn in Jan. 17th.  Cabinet confirmation hearings are slated for the next day – Jan. 18th.
