There will be a third candidate in the upcoming 10th Senate District.
Libertarian Joseph Lanzendorfer is running to fill the seat left open by lieutenant governor-elect Bethany Hall-Long.
Lazendorfer joins the Democrat Stephanie Hansen and Republican John Marino in the race.
Lazendorfer says his campaign will center on lowering taxes, eliminating useless regulations and curtailing the influence of federal government on education locally. He also supports legalizing marijuana and taxing it to raise revenue.
The special election is considered crucial because control of the state Senate is at stake. With Hall-Long’s departure, that chamber will be split 10-10 between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats have controlled the state Senate for last 4 decades.
