The August evacuation Afghan refugees and U.S. personnel from Afghanistan was a massive undertaking. Operation Allies Refuge is considered the largest noncombatant evacuation operation in history

And Dover Air Force Base played a role with 3rd Airlift Squadron flying more than 90 missions to help transport over 7,000 passengers and some cargo.

Capt. Travis Parrott and Senior Airman Duncan Copley were among those involved and this week offer their firsthand accounts.

When the U.S brought tens of thousands of refugees here from Afghanistan in August, many families, including ten here in Delaware, arrived with almost nothing, seeking a better life.

What’s next for these refugees? Each story is different – but Delaware Public Media’s Roman Battaglia recently got some insight from Sadiq, a former Afghan interpreter who fled his country in 2017 and came to Delaware.
