The Green - September 4, 2020

Listen to this edition of The Green or individual segments below:

As part of our 2020 Election coverage, Delaware Public Media is once again offering a series of Candidate Conversations.

We reached out to all candidates filed to run in the races for U.S. House and U.S. Senate, as well as Governor, Lt. Governor and Insurance Commissioner and invited them to sit down with us.

Candidates in each race are being asked about the same set of topics to allow you to get to know them and compare them.

The race for Gov. features 9 candidates challenging the incumbent, Democrat John Carney.

Six of those challengers face off in the GOP primary this month.  Five agreed to sit down with us. David Bosco did not respond.

On this edition of The Green, we feature the last of those Republicans we talked to – Scott Walker - and the Independent Party of Delaware’s candidate for Governor, Kathy Dematteis.

Walker upended conventional wisdom 2 years ago - defeating Lee Murphy in the GOP Primary for US House before losing to Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester in the general. That came after running for US House as a Democrat in 216 and losing in a losing in a 6 way primary.

DeMatties is making her first run for statewide office.

And our Races to Watch series heads to Wilmington, where a smaller pool of candidates is vying for the Mayor's office in 2020.

But Delaware Public Media’s Sophia Schmidt reports the race is no less contentious.
