City of Dover swears in new police chief

The City of Dover’s new police chief is officially on the job.

Chief Thomas Johnson was sworn in by Mayor Robin Christiansen Thursday night.

Johnson is Dover’s 15th police chief. And he’s only the second police chief in department history to be hired from outside the ranks of the department.

Chief Johnson comes to Delaware from the Upper Darby Police Department - where he was serving as Captain of Detectives.
