Delaware Public Media

The Delaware National Guard has joined Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

The Delaware Guard sent one of its a C-130 aircraft to Texas to help support evacuation efforts in the storm’s wake.

It’s also sending staff officers to the National Guard Bureau Joint Operations Center near Washington, D.C. to assist the Intelligence and Operations sections there.

Only 10 Delaware guard members are involved at this time, but the First State’s 166th Airlift Wing is prepare to provide up to four aircraft and crews to the Gulf Region if needed. It also has the 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron on standby. That unit would provide flight nurses and medical technicians as necessary.

The Delaware Guard is joining the relief effort under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, and while its involved Delaware National Guard Joint Operations Center is being staffed 24/7.
