160 at-risk dogs will be airlifted this week from Arizona to find forever homes in the Tri-State area.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA is welcoming 100, mostly small dogs Sunday as part of the 160-dog Freekibble Flight to Freedom from Phoenix, flown by Wings of Rescue and funded by GreaterGood.org.
100 of the 160 dogs are expected to be available for adoption later next week at the SPCA’s West Chester, P-A, New Castle, Delaware and Georgetown campuses. The remaining 60 dogs will be going to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA Second Chance Program welcomes at-risk animals from shelters locally and nationally as space allows. These dogs are being rescued from high-risk situations in Phoenix to take advantage of local demand for adopting small dogs that’s greater than the number of local small dogs in need of homes.
The Airlift Rescue Mission is scheduled to arrive at the New Castle Airport at 11:30 Sunday morning.
