Federal grants could boost DSHA housing projects

Federal funding could help First State nonprofits house more people with disabilities and the homeless.

State officials announced $1 million in federal funding administered through the Delaware State Housing Authority will soon be available for new construction and rehabilitation housing projects.

"The key thing is that these aren’t short-term housing solutions, but long-term housing with supportive services that allow people to live independently, DSHA Director of Public Relations Dan Shortridge said.

The money comes from the National Housing Trust Fund and the HOME Investments Partnership program.

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits.  Applications are due by June 16.
