The Delaware Insurance Department wants to make it easier to find missing life insurance policies.
The search service lets executors, beneficiaries and legal representatives find missing insurance policies for First State residents who’ve passed away.
Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart says the tool will search every life and annuity insurer licensed in the state looking for missing policies or contracts.
“A lot of loved ones are frustrated with trying to find life insurance policies of loved ones ,” Stewart said.
Stewart adds many other states have similar tools for residents. Delaware's went live this week.
The search requires a special form and must be signed by a Notary Public.
