Nearly 100 DUI arrests made in Delaware last week

Delaware Public Media

Police made 97 arrests for driving under the influence in Delaware last week. Four of those happened at a DUI checkpoint conducted by the New Castle County DUI Task Force and Delaware State Police.

To date, that brings total DUI arrests this year to 3,491.

It’s all part of Checkpoint Strikeforce a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders by using high visibility enforcement.

The next DUI checkpoint takes place Friday in Wilmington.

There were just over 4,000 DUI arrests in Delaware for all of 2014.

A .08% blood alcohol concentration or greater is sufficient for a DUI conviction in the First State.
