Those looking for a job and receiving food benefits in Delaware could get a hand up thanks to a new federal grant.
State health officials were awarded a three-year, $18.8 million grant from the US Department of Agriculture to provide job-training opportunities in several industries.
Called the Delaware WONDER program, participants can choose among construction, culinary arts and manufacturing trades, as well as broad-based job training.
Officials say about 20 percent of the 150,000 Delawareans receiving food benefits will be eligible – the remainder are elderly, disabled or adults already working.
Delaware was one of ten states to receive this grant.
