Additional lighting coming to Pomeroy Trail

Delaware State Parks

Work on an upgrade to the Pomeroy Trail in Newark begins this week.

DNREC is adding more lighting along the trail in White Clay Creek State Park.

The project includes the installation of 11 light poles to light about 1,300 feet of the trail, and it will be consistent with lighting along the trail near North College Avenue.

When the work is completed, the trail will provide a lit corridor between downtown Newark to the city’s Fairfield Crest trail.

The part of Pomeroy Trail where the lighting is being added will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but it will be accessible nights, weekends, and when there is no work occurring.

According to DNREC, the construction will be completed in late October.

The project costs $98,000.
